last minute reviews - february 1999

black maiden 19:
The hirez departments isn't very big, but still worth reviewing. The "kolor" logo is a typical demoscene logo, but I don't understand why Pandur would released a "not really finished" logo. The rest of the pack is of average quality with photomanips and abstract work. The quality is really good, but the art just isn't very intriguing.

score: 5

This hirez department isn't big very either. While arl-chuc.jpg is pretty mediocre, I like the touch with the cracks in the girls face. Most photomanips seem consist of low-quality photos, which isn't very good. It isn't hard to get hold of free stockphoto of good quality. Otherwise there seem to be some potential in this group, and they might develope a good hirez department.

ic exposure 1:
This new group is not very good. All pics are saved in very low quality for some reason. The photomanips are very simply done, and most work are just filters. They aren't very provocative either, as they say in the info file. Now, for some reason they've chosen the abbreviation ICE, which isn't unlike the more known group iCE. Isn't it awkward?

This pack was released last month but we review it anyway.
It's a really average artpack. Most pics aren't bad, they just need some more touching up and refining, for example blurry edges etc. The rendered work isn't very impressive. The objects look dead and "flat". They need a lot more lighting and texturing. There's also a lot of skteches, which aren't particularly good, and aren't really finished pics. The HTML presentation was pretty nice, and a good idea.
