The event lasts four days, and we expect about 1000 ppl attending it. This is the first party with this size in this Eastern European Region, and we hope that within one or two years, Hungarian parties will reach the level of the Scandinavian ones. This year we organize C-64, Amiga and PC compos, and also RPG compos, but those will be played in Hungarian. This Brczi Gza school can be found in the northern part of Budapest, called Bksmegyer, near the stop of the suburban railway. The included map will help you to find the way. (Press F12 in the invitator program.) If you find the school, you will see a three-floor panel building, with a large 'FLaG' flag on it. The entrance fee for one person for four days is 600 HUF, this is about $5. Not too lot, we think. Table for four days is HUF 150, so another one dollar. Other costs will be really low, since Hungary is usually really cheap for most foreigners. You can have a day's meal from only $10. Some features of the partyplace: - 3000 square metres active area - Enough power outlets (bring a divider) - Comfortable sleeping-building with matraces - McDonald's serving as buffet - Showers for free - Projector - 1200W audio amplification The sleeping-building means a small building separated from the school. It will be guaranteedly silent, and furnitured with comfortable matraces. The only you need to bring is a cover. If you dislike McDonalds' fast food, you can have normal restaurant food in our regular buffet. And even the regular sandwiches, coke, etc. As on every party, here also will be compos. The overall prizing is HUF 500,000, what means about $3500. Because FLaG will also be a role-player meeting, there will be several RPG compos as well. The complete list of compo cathegories: - PC demo - Amiga demo - C-64 demo - PC 64K intro - Amiga 40K intro - C-64 GFX - PC 4K intro - Amiga 4K intro - C-64 muzak - Multichannel - 4 channel muzak - GFX - Raytrace - ANSI GFX - Lamer compo - Fernandez compo - Nostalgia - DOOM compo - M.A.G.U.S. - AD&D - Mithos - Cards of Power card competition The last four are the role-play cathegories. These will be played in Hungarian, but anyway, we write the rules of these also in this English text. - PC demo compo There is no maximum size for the demo, but if there is not enough space on the compo machine's disk for it, please give it us on your own HDD. (We won't eat it, do not be afraid.) The demo must not contain pre-rendered or drawn animation, and must not write anything onto the hard disk. And of course, it must not delete also, because it would result in kicking the creators' ass... :-) You must not contribute with any production previously released on other parties, or anyway. And this is an overall rule for all cathegories. Please try to avoid toruses, ducks, masks, dolphins, etc. The demo must be quittable by pressing Esc. - PC 64K intro Try to guess, what is the maximum size of the contributions in this cathegory. Other rules are the same like in the demo cathegory: no torus, no writes, Esc=quit. - PC 4K intro Music enabled. Other rules: like at the demos. - Amiga demo The conventions are the same like at the PC demos. - Amiga 40K intro See the rules at PC 64K, except that this can only be 40K. - Amiga 4K intro See PC 4K intro... - C-64 demo There are no rules. Maybe only one: the demo must not reserve more than four disk sides (two disks). - C-64 gfx The picture must not be scanned. - C-64 muzak The music must not be fully digitized. - 4 channel music compo Amiga and PC will be judged in one cathegory. The format may be anything, which is playable using Cubic Player, or if not, include the player program on the disk. Here we mention that there are other styles different from rave... - Multichannel music compo Like one above. No MIDIs. - ANSI gfx compo There is nothing much to explain about this. Amiga and PC in one, on a PC. - GFX compo Pixel drawings please, scannings will be disqualified. Maximum resolution is 1024x768 truecolor. Formats: GIF, TGA, JPG, and BMP. The SEA viewer will be used. It is recommended to have some drawing phases saved, because we may ask for them, if the audience thinks the piccy is scanned. Amiga and PC together, displayed on PC. - Trace compo 1024x768x16M is the maximum, and the same file formats like in the gfx compo. Please include a small text file describing the programs used to render the picture. Amiga and PC in one. - Lamer compo This is a special Hungarian invention, first presented on SceNEst '95. You may use any technology to code a demo, the only need of it is humour. We mention, that the quote 'Intel Outside' is really no fun after hearing it a thousand times. And also rude sex pictures, buggy code, etc. All machines will compete in one cathegory. Lamer compos are usually the most awaited minutes of the Hungarian parties, so do not think it is a ridiculous idea. - DOOM compo There will be four DX4/100 machines. The compo will consist of three rounds: qualifying, semifinals, and finals. In the first two rounds there will be two Deathmatches: two minutes play on Ultimate DOOM E1M1, and two minutes on DOOM II. level 1. The one having the most frags after the two matches will win. In the finals an unknown level will be used, created by the organizers. - Nostalgia compo This is a new cathegory, first organized on this party. There will be a 286 as a compo machine, and competitors will play "Deathmatch" in old games such like Dynablaster, or speed race in Prince of Persia, etc. The rules will be told at the party. - Fernandez compo The compo got its name after a weird face on the Hungarian scene, called Fernandez. Actually, it is a fun compo between four-member groups. They will have to complete difficult tasks, for example picking up oily rice from the floor, shaving a baloon, etc. The prize also will be something such a crazy thing... - Role-playing games Please let us know long before the party if you wish to contribute. Even right now. (Contact Achos, his addy and phone is at the end of this text.) The game will be played between groups. The players will get pre-generated, second or third level characters. The group gathering the most points will win the compo. Bring your cubes and rule-books. In any cathegory you contribute, if you give us your production on floppy disk, please write your and your group's name, the title and the cathegory of the production on the disk label. If it consists of more than one disks, indicate it also, for example 'Disk 3/IV.' Include this info also on the disk as a plain text file, and if it is not too difficult, make some kinda file_id.diz or something like that. By this text let us also know about the special features of the product, for example EMS needs, GUS handling/not handling, etc. The compo machines will be: PC: AMD DX4/120, 8MB RAM, 1 MB PCI Trio 64 S3, GUS Max with 1 MB, SB16 Vibra with wavetable. Amiga: A1200 with 020/28 turbocard, 2MB chip, 8MB FastRAM. C-64: A plain 64 with floppy drive. The compos' deadline is 21st July, 16:00. Every attender will get a voting form with the ticket, which he can use to vote on the compos. After the compos, these papers must be inserted into the voting box, standing at the entrance of the compo room. Compo time begins at 22:00 on 21st July. The products contributing on the compos will be released as freeware after processing the votes. We release all of them, ignoring asks not to do it. The party etiquette is simple: Because FLaG is to entertain You, there are no rules and restrictions. We won't dig into your bag searching for alcohol, 'coz this is not The Party. There is only one rule, but this is important: If you make any trouble, will be kicked off! This is only for the good mood. Say, if someone pays 600 forints to be there, he may expect himself feeling well. Hope, everyone will understand this. If not, we explain: If you drink a beer, or smoke a cigarette, even lick a stamp, no one will bust you with a shotgun. Even not if this was the sixth one. But if you feel yourself a strong man after it, and for example, catch up with someone, you will be mercilessly kicked from the party. Ah, by the way, also no one is interested in the output level of your amplifier. CD-writing will be possible on the party for HUF 1800, what is about $10. There will be party network, so bring an Ethernet card with wires and other stuff if you want to use it. Party CD will be released after the party. It will contain all compo stuff, and everything, you give us to put on it. If there remains any space on the disk, we will write digitized photos and film clips about the party onto it. CD mail orders may go to Tomcat, contact info at the end of the text. An Internet party server will also be set up, using satellite link. The organizers of the event will take no responsibility for any software and hardware used and/or spread on FLaG. Against getting bored, you may attend the following programs: - A presentation on the MIRO video-digitizer card. - Creative Labs presents its new TV-radio tuner card for PCs. - Live Mortal Kombat: a representative from IBM and one from Microsoft will discuss about OS/2 and Win95.
