epoq ---- by chimera released may 5, 2000. 5 tracks, 27 minutes 36 seconds of music. this ep was created over the last 5 months. it was started in january 2000 and is now complete in may. the ep is being released online and locally on cd to people i know. the online version naturally suffers from mp3 compression, which is unfortunately unavoidable... tracklist & info ---------------- 1) "deep in the hollow" - 4:21 a heavy hitting triphop style piece. this was the last track written, and was completed may 3rd. it was written very much under the influence of falcon, a brilliant tracker. i actually used madtracker 2 to create it, though alot of the samples are from my xp-30. 2) "asleep on a cloud" - 6:26 a mellow piece, as for the style, im not really sure exactly what to call it. it is influenced by the work of darkhalo. i've always enjoyed both the visual and musical art that josh makes, so this is track is for him. this one was made with impulse tracker, midi triggering my xp-30. 3) "rùckseite" - 5:08 a piece of electronica written for coven2k's mp3 competition. this ended up winning back in february, and has been a favourite of a number of people. it is released again on this disk firstly so that more people could hear it, and secondly so that i could actually release it in its entirity. i had to chop off the last 8 seconds with a fast fade in the coven version because of the timelimit (argh!). as for the name, "rùckseite" is german for reverse. this one was once again made with impulse tracker triggering my xp-30. for the few of you that are wondering, yes that is me singing. 4) "stagger" - 5:31 minimal electronica, the style of this one is hard to define. this piece was not sequenced at all, but rather multitracked using my xp-30. the piece is one of my favourites on this ep. thanks so much to sara warrick for speaking the poetry for me, i think her voice adds a great deal to this piece. 5) "where is your reality?" - 6:10 ambient. another piece that was not sequenced. more poetic spoken word parts, this time thanks to my sister naomi, and wenc, who i met on icq :). both did a wonderful job and once again these parts really add to the piece. i think this piece is a nice way to finish the ep, and will hopefully get your brain ticking over a little. ----------- for best listening use headphones and make sure your eq is flat. an email with your thoughts and comments would be appreciated. my email : chimera@nimh.org my website: http://come.to/chimera i really hope you have enjoyed this production. some greets: all the hellven boys, melvyl in particular all the other strangers that hang in #hellven ;) reduz, get well soon dude :) smile! firestar rs3 virt altemark gaffer random xus lillake darkhalo hunz all the people i met at coven, can't wait for next year! kennyb distance kritix pv quoz keith303 God anyone in the following groups (thanks for the musical inspiration) : tokyo dawn records, fridge, dope, chill, milk, bmp (and all its sublabels), alliance, and of course noisemusic.
