WHAT? Elevator is a demoscene- / multimediaparty, which will be now organized for the third time. Last year things worked with varying success, and this year we will do our best to fix the problems encountered last year. The organizers aim again at an operative party (considering people's needs), where no-one should have any complaining. That's why we could gladly hear your wishes. Drop us an e-mail. 2. WHERE? Elevator will be organized at Ylivieska sports center. Ylivieska is a city of 13.500 residents located at the southern areas of Oulu province. Distance to Oulu is 130 km, Kokkola 80 km and Iisalmi 150 km. Ylivieska lies by the main railroad of Finland. You can get here also via direct railway connection from Iisalmi twice a day. The city center lies at a distance of 500 meters, where you can find e.g. 7 bars (the nearest is across the road, with karaoke!), 3 groceries, 2 pizzerias, 3 grills, 1 hamburger restaurant - briefly said everything you need. There will also be raves on Friday evening at Ylivieska. More detailed information available on our website. NOTE! If you are coming by train, we will catch you at the station and offer a ride to the partyplace for only 5 FIM. Naturally we expect you to inform us about your arrival time. If you have friends with you, tell us also how many of you there are. You'll recognize the minibus for it's great amount of advertisements and Elevator-signs. In urgent situations and last-minute changes contact our driver directly by cellular: 0400-914195. 3. WHEN? The date is 21-23.1.2000. Doors will be opened on Friday night at 20:00 and closed on Sunday at 12:00. So far seems as Elevator is on of the very first parties in the year of grase 2k in the Northern Europe and also in the whole world! We bet you don't want to miss the event? 4. WHAT COSTS? The entrance fee is 100 FIM for males and 40 FIM for females. In exchange you will get a badge (which allows you to enter the partyplace) and a voting-id. The purpose of this party is NOT to yield any profit to the organizers. All money left after deducting expenses will be used for prizes. No advance tickets this year. Foreigners get in for free. (Remember to bring your passport or other valid ID with you.) 5. WE OFFER: - Tables for 130 computers. Room for much more people. - Seats in the back of the hall for watching competitions and recreation. (even sleeping). - Enough electricity. Remember to bring your own extension cords. We allow you to use even a coffee maker :). - There are slight problems with the sleeping areas, but they are spread all over the building. Noise restrictions will be set in mornings and at nights, so sleeping in the main hall should not be a problem. - Swimming baths in the same building. We've heard, that the opening time of Saturday will be earlier than normally, so use this excellent chance of recreation. The price is 15-20 FIM depending of the time. Ylivieska Swimming Baths contain in addition to the main pool also a children's pool with slide (!), a rehabilitation pool, a rehabilitation pool and a Turkish bath. We have also ordinary (=free) showers. - Raves nearby on Friday evening. More info coming later. - 5 kW audio system processed by Ultracurve EQ. For maximal audio pleasure, we will not play music too loud, so you don't need earplugs during competitions. Other times the usage of earplugs is only recommended. We will sell some earplugs in the partyplace (last year's surplus). - Twisted pair network for everyone. You will be able to borrow and buy cables from us if you don't have your own. No official BNC-support, but the hubs should contain the port. Linux-servers. - Internet access. The speed will be confirmed later (possibly 10 MBit/s). - Big screen. - Network based voting (familiar from the last year), which will be rebuilt for e.g. increasing security. For excitement reasons, votes will be counted one vote at time. A personal ID-number will be given to everyone, so the classic votedisk larking will be impossible. - A caf‚ with fair prices. The building's own caf‚ will be open. - Pizzas from Kotipizza will be delivered directly to the partyplace. When there is at least 10 orders waiting in the queue, they will be sent. 6. RULES - Normal Finnish laws are valid regarding alcohol and smoking. - The organizers are NOT responsible of any stolen or broken equipment in any way. You bring your stuff on your OWN responsibility. - Everyone assumes the responsibility of any broken things by himself.
