The competitors do not have to be present at the party place, they may send their contributions to us. However, we cannot guarantee the presentation of these contributions if they are sent too late or in case of unexpected problems. We do not return the diskettes that the contributions arrived on. All the contributions will be published by the organizers. We also reserve rights to make any changes to the competition rules and to disqualify any of the entries if we do not find them suitable for presentation. None of the competition entries may have been released before Demobit '96. If there are too many entries in a competition, we reserve the right to form a jury of known scene people which will pick the best entries for the competition. In this phase, each human who entered the competition will play two games with each alorithm. All programs and 5 best human players will enter finals. In finals each player (either human or program) plays against each player, program versus program play 10 games. The overall score of each player is the average success in all games. Top three players (no distinguishing between programs and humans) get the prizes, which are 4000, 2000 and 1000Kc. The competition is sponsored by - Dement - Sahara Surfers Technical data: Two ways of communication of programs are supported now: - POLE.DAT - Brain executed without parameters displays info and immediately returns to DOS. If executed with either of "1" or "2" commandline parameters, it should read pole.dat file from the current directory, which is a matrix of 19x19 bytes, 0h means empty field, 1h means cross and 2h means circle. It should make one move with given stone and write the result back to pole.dat. - RESIDENT - Brain will hook the interrupt. Sample program is enclosed to Pisquorky for Dummies & Wizards 2.2 (published in Pareniste 18 diskmag or it can be found on Infima BBS \games\pisq??.*) If any problem occurs with the brain and the time is tense, the brain will be disqualified. At the end of each game an average time for one move will be computed. Programs may only think 2 seconds (on a 486dx4/100), humans may think at most 20 seconds. Player, which continuosly overruns the limit, will be disqualified. One programmer may enter the competition with several brains only if their algorithms are significantly different.
